Catalog

Can I limit the brands I send through Giftbit?

Yes. The choice is yours. Giftbit gives you total control over the recipient experience:

  • Single brand: You can send a specific gift card (e.g., just Starbucks or just Amazon) if you know exactly what your audience wants.
  • Curated selection: You can hand-pick a small "shortlist" of 3–5 brands that align with your campaign theme.
  • Full catalog: You can let your recipients choose from hundreds of popular brands, ensuring everyone finds something they love.

What is the difference between a "Standard" and a "Promotional" reward?

Giftbit offers two distinct reward formats based on your goals:

  • Standard Rewards: These have no "claim-by" date and are ideal for milestones or earned incentives where you want the recipient to have unlimited time to choose.
  • Promotional Rewards: These include a set "claim-by" date to create a sense of urgency. If the reward isn't claimed by the deadline, a percentage of the value is returned to your account—saving you budget on "lost" rewards.

Can I choose the exact dollar amount for the rewards I send?

Yes. Giftbit offers incredible flexibility with reward values, supporting everything from "micro-rewards" to high-value incentives. Some brands are limited in denomination options, however generally:

  • Custom Amounts: You aren't restricted to round numbers (like $5 or $10). You can send "variable" amounts—even specific figures like $12.50 or $3.31—which is perfect for exact reimbursements or points-to-rewards programs.
  • Wide Range: You can send rewards in denominations ranging from as little as $0.01 to as much as $2,000 USD

In your Giftbit account, when you select the value of the reward and region, the available brand options for that specific denomination will populate.

Breakage, margins, & revenue

How does Giftbit make money?

There are no fees to use the Giftbit platform. Instead, we make money in two ways:
  1. We have partnerships with companies that share a margin on gift cards and prepaid cards with us.
  2. When a customer chooses to set a claim period on a promotional reward, Giftbit receives a portion of the unclaimed value (breakage) when the offer expires. The rest goes back to the customer. Keeping a portion of breakage is the standard practice in the gift card distribution industry.

Does Giftbit share breakage?

Yes, Giftbit's default breakage sharing is 25%, so if you send a Promotional Reward (with a claim-by date) and the reward goes unspent, Giftbit will refund your account %25.

Note: this does not apply for Standard Rewards.

For a larger share of the breakage, custom pricing will need to be set up with Giftbit team.

Does Giftbit share revenue margins?

Custom pricing, including margin sharing, is available for eligible high-volume senders. These agreements are set up in advance with the onboarding team.

Tracking & reporting

Can I see what rewards have been viewed and redeemed?

Yes. Giftbit provides 360-degree, on-demand, real-time tracking for every reward you send.

From your dashboard, you can monitor the status of your incentives—including whether they were delivered, opened, or successfully redeemed—allowing you to measure the immediate success of your campaigns.

How do I track my spending for accounting and auditing?

Giftbit offers comprehensive financial reconciliation tools. You can generate detailed reports on balances, funding, and currency information for any specific time period. This provides the transparency needed for precise auditing, forecasting, and managing your program’s overall budget.

Can I see what brands my recipients pick?

Absolutely. Giftbit's reporting tools include customer insights and recipient summaries. You can filter your reward history to see which specific brands from the catalog were claimed most often.

This data helps you understand user behavior and make informed decisions on which rewards to offer in future campaigns to maximize engagement.

Sending, delivery, & redemption

How can I order rewards?

You can easily order rewards by logging into your Giftbit account, creating or choosing a reward template, uploading your contacts, and then placing an order for email delivery or downloading unique Giftbit links for manual distribution.

You can also automate reward sending through Giftbit's RESTful API for full customization, or use Zapier to connect with 2,000+ popular apps (like HubSpot or Salesforce) to trigger rewards based on specific events or workflow actions.

How can rewards be delivered?

Giftbit makes it easy to deliver digital rewards by email, direct link (which can be shared via text/SMS, QR code, social media DM, or embedded in your own app), or even by mailing a physical prepaid Visa® card if needed.

You can fully customize the recipient experience and automate delivery using our API or Zapier for seamless integration with your existing workflows.

Learn more about delivery options here.

What is the redemption process for my recipients?

Recipients get an instant email or link with your customized message and simply click to claim their reward—no sign-up required, no app to download.

They can browse and select from your chosen reward options, then use their digital gift card or prepaid card online, in-store, or in some cases even add it to a digital wallet for super-simple spending.

Support & operations

What if my recipient has an issue with their card?

One of the biggest benefits of using Giftbit is that we provide dedicated, in-house support for you AND your recipients.

If someone loses their email, has a technical issue, or needs help with a specific brand, they can contact us directly. This removes the administrative burden from your team and ensures your recipients have a 5-star experience.

Is there technical support available for API integrations?

Absolutely. Giftbit offers dedicated technical resources for developers. Whether you are building in our sandbox environment (Testbed) or moving to production, you can access our comprehensive API documentation or chat directly with our integration experts at testbed@giftbit.com.

We aim to help most teams get up and running in as little as one day.

Does my company need to be a certain size to get personalized support?

Every Giftbit user gets a human touch. We don't gatekeep our expertise based on company size. While we are a self-serve platform designed for you to get up and running in minutes, you aren't left to figure it out alone.

  • Human support for all: Whether you’re a startup or a Fortune 500, you have direct access to our in-house Support and Success teams via live chat, phone, and email.
  • Strategic guidance: If your program grows or becomes complex (such as requiring API integration or high-volume custom agreements), our team is ready to step in and provide a dedicated point of contact to ensure your program's success.
  • Self-serve autonomy: You have the power to manage your own account without waiting on a rep for basic tasks, but we are always standing by if you need a strategic partner.

Security & data protection

Is Giftbit SOC 2 compliant?

Yes. Giftbit is SOC 2 Type II compliant, which is the gold standard for security, availability, and confidentiality in cloud-based services.

This means our internal controls are audited annually by an independent third party to ensure your data is handled with the highest level of security. We can provide our SOC 2 report to your compliance team to help streamline your vendor risk assessment.

How is my data (and my recipients' data) protected?

We use a "Privacy by Design" approach to safeguard all information.

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted both in transit (using TLS 1.2+) and at rest (using AES-256).
  • PII Layering: Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is further protected with additional layers of encryption. Even in the event of unauthorized database access, the PII remains unreadable without a separate decryption key.
  • Least Privilege: We follow the Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP), meaning Giftbit employees only have access to the specific data required to perform their job functions.

How does Giftbit protect the funds in my account?

Securing your money is our top priority. We use several layers of protection to prevent fraud and unauthorized spending:

  • Automated monitoring: We automatically flag and freeze suspicious funding transactions (like unusual credit card activity).
  • Velocity controls: Our system monitors spending patterns to catch and stop unusual order volumes before they can drain your balance.
  • MFA: We support and strongly recommend Multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all users to prevent unauthorized account access.

Is Giftbit PCI and GDPR compliant?

Yes. As a distributor of prepaid Visa and Mastercard incentives, Giftbit is a PCI SAQ-D compliant processor. We adhere to strict industry standards for handling cardholder data.

We also operate as a GDPR-compliant data processor, ensuring that European recipients' data is handled according to strict international privacy laws.

How do you ensure the security of your API?

For teams using our API, we provide a completely segregated Testbed (sandbox) environment. This allows developers to build and test their integrations safely without touching real funds or production data. We also perform regular penetration testing and threat assessments on our infrastructure to identify and patch vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.

Team Accounts & collaboration

Can I have multiple people manage the same Giftbit account?

Yes. With Giftbit's Team Accounts, you can invite as many colleagues as you need. This allows different departments (like HR, Sales, and Marketing) to manage their own specific reward programs under one parent organization. You can easily add and remove members, or even suspend accounts as people join or leave your company.

How do permissions and roles work for team members?

To keep your account secure and organized, you can assign three distinct roles:

  • Team Owners: Have full control over the entire account, including permissions, billing, and the ability to run reports for all members.
  • Admins: Can manage specific team members, run reporting, and transfer credits between accounts.
  • Users: Can buy, send, and manage their own rewards and reports but don't have access to other team members’ activity.

Can we share a central budget, or does everyone have their own?

You have the flexibility to do both. Team Owners can maintain a centralized balance and transfer credits to specific team members' accounts as needed. This ensures Finance has a holistic view of the budget while allowing individual managers the autonomy to send rewards when they need to.

Automations & integrations

Do I need a developer to automate my gift card sending?

Not necessarily.

With Zapier you can connect Giftbit to over 2,000 apps (like HubSpot, Salesforce, or Google Sheets). This allows you to trigger a reward automatically—for example, when a lead books a demo or a customer completes a survey—without writing a single line of code.

Where you'll need some developer help is with the API. If you want to build rewards directly into your own app or website, our RESTful API is developer-friendly, well-documented, and free to use.

Can I schedule rewards to be send at a future date?

Yes. Whether you are doing a bulk upload or sending a single reward, you can choose to send it immediately or schedule it for a specific date and time.
