Most transactions are cost-free . Minimal fees apply only to credit card funding, currency conversion, and specific prepaid card types.

Pricing & funding FAQs

How does Giftbit make money?

There are no fees to use the Giftbit platform. Instead, we make money in two ways:
  1. We have partnerships with companies that share a margin on gift cards and prepaid cards with us.
  2. When a customer chooses to set a claim period on a promotional reward, Giftbit receives a portion of the unclaimed value when the offer expires. The rest goes to the customer.

Depending on their program, we share revenue from either stream back with our customers. If your program involves sending high volumes of rewards, Giftbit offers savings opportunities and custom pricing. 

Is there a minimum spend, subscription fee, or exclusivity contract?

No. Giftbit does not require subscription fees, minimum usage, or exclusivity agreements.

 

Do I have to apply for any reward brands?

For most digital gift card brands in Giftbit’s catalog, no special application is required—you get instant access to the majority of options!

⚠️ However, a few select brands (like Amazon and Prepaid Mastercard) may require a quick approval step for added security, but the process is straightforward and support is available to help if needed.

Is there a fee to distribute each gift card?

There are no fees to distribute most digital gift cards—you pay only the face value of the reward you send.
 
⚠️ Exceptions: physical prepaid cards have a small printing/shipping fee, credit card funding incurs a 3.5% fee, and there’s a 2% fee if currency conversion is required.

 

What's the difference between Standard and Promotional, and is there a charge?

Standard rewards have an unlimited claim-by date.
 
Promotional rewards have a fixed claim-by date (set by you, the sender).
 
If a recipient doesn't claim their reward by the fixed claim-by date, 25% of the value defaults back to your account.
 
Some providers charge a fee for Promotional rewards, but Giftbit offers this option free of charge.
 

 

How do credits work?

Giftbit credits represent the funds in your account, which you use to send rewards.
 
You fund your account in your chosen currency (like CAD or USD), and those credits are then used each time you order or send a gift card. 

 

How does revenue sharing work?

High-volume senders can unlock revenue sharing, where Giftbit shares a portion of the margin from brand partnerships back with the customer.

What happens to unclaimed rewards?

There are two ways to send rewards:

  1. Standard rewards (the default) have an unlimited claim-by date.
  2. Promotional rewards (set by you) have a fixed claim-by date.

Since Standard rewards can always be claimed, they are considered offered to your recipients. With Promotional rewards, if your recipient doesn't claim by the date set, 25% of the value defaults back to your balance.

Note: talk to the team for custom pricing on Promotional rewards and volume discounts.

Is the 3.5% credit card fee per card value, or the total amount?

The 3.5% fee applies to the total amount you fund your account by credit card, not per card.

So, if you have custom pricing like a bulk discount, you will be charged 3.5% on what you fund into your account, not the face-value of the rewards you send.

How do I request an invoice or payment receipt?

Contact our Finance team at finance@giftbit.com if you require an invoice before purchasing account credit from Giftbit.

For credit card payments, receipts are automatically sent by email. If you fund your account via wire/bank transfer and require a receipt, please contact our Finance team at finance@giftbit.com.

How do I request a refund?

To request a refund for your unused credits, please email our Customer Support team at support@giftbit.com.
 
Giftbit will refund the full remaining balance of your unused credits. There are no fees for refunds or for account closures.
