Automated gift card fulfillment is the process of creating, delivering, and tracking gift card or prepaid card rewards without having to manually process every order. Rewards can be sent according to a schedule or triggered by an activity in another application, website, or internal system.

Do I need an API to automate gift card delivery?

You can automate gift card sending without a gift card API. Zapier lets you trigger Giftbit rewards from thousands of business applications without having to touch a line of code. Popular integrations include Slack, SurveyMonkey, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Qualtrics, and Salesforce.

The API is better suited to custom workflows, embedded reward experiences, and integrations managed by a development team.

How can I automate payouts with gift cards?

Do rewards have an expiration date?

Standard Giftbit rewards have no claim-by date, while Promotional rewards can be set to expire 1–365 days after sending. Once claimed, expiration depends on the reward: retailer gift cards vary by brand and country, while prepaid Visa® and Mastercard rewards typically expire within 3–12 months.

Not every gift card platform offers the same flexibility around expiry and unclaimed rewards, and some charge extra to set a claim window. Giftbit does not. Standard rewards remain available until claimed or cancelled. For Promotional rewards that expire unclaimed, 25% of the value is automatically returned to your Giftbit balance by default, with higher return rates available for eligible programs.

Can I send automated credit cards to recipients?

Technically, you cannot send credit cards via any rewards platform. Instead, you can send what are called ‘prepaid’ cards from brands like Visa and Mastercard. This card will be preloaded with an available balance that acts as the spending limit (i.e., a $25 Visa prepaid card lets your recipient spend $25). Your recipients will be able to use it anywhere in-person or online that accepts Visa or Mastercard, respectively.

Is it safe to send a gift card online?

Digital gift cards can be sent securely online when you use a reputable provider with appropriate security and compliance controls.

Can I test an automated reward workflow before going live?
