GiftCertificates.ca Winding Down: What Canadian Businesses Need to Know

SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 — Canadian businesses that rely on GiftCertificates.ca for employee rewards, customer incentives, or bulk gift card orders have a decision to make in the coming weeks.

GiftCertificates.ca, the corporate gift card program long operated by Givex, was acquired by Shift4 in 2024. Under Shift4's ownership, the program, now branded Giftpass, is winding down: it will stop accepting new orders on September 15, 2026, and close entirely on September 30, 2026.

For businesses with active rewards or incentive programs running through GiftCertificates.ca, that leaves a narrow window to migrate to a new provider before any gap in delivery.
