A gift card incentive program works best when you can give people choice without creating extra work for the team running it. That's why our main product updates in 2024 focused on making that balance easier, while continuing to improve the experience for people receiving rewards.
January: Offer the Full Catalog with one selection
The Full Catalog option was a significant change to how senders could set up a reward. Rather than choosing one brand or building a shortlist in advance, a sender could select Full Catalog and let recipients choose for themselves.
After receiving a reward email or link, recipients could browse eligible options in Giftbit’s catalog and select a reward that suited them. The options shown depend on the recipient’s region and the reward value. For a program with people who have different preferences, this gives each person meaningful choice without requiring the sender to curate a separate brand list for every audience.
Senders could still choose a customized selection when a campaign called for specific brands. Full Catalog added a simpler way to offer broad choice when it did not. Giftbit’s Full Catalog guide explains the two approaches.
February: Improvements to sending and claiming
We made usability and clarity improvements in both the main app and the reward pages recipients see. The work included fixes to the existing experience and technical groundwork for future catalog additions.
February through April: More prepaid card options
Several announcements expanded the types of prepaid rewards senders could offer:
- February: A prepaid Visa® option was added to Full Catalog and customized reward selections.
- March: Virtual Prepaid Mastercard® became an option for Canadian recipients.
- April: A USD Virtual Prepaid Mastercard became available for international sending in eligible locations where the card is accepted. Learn more about the USD card.
September: More flexibility in reward amounts
Giftbit also expanded the available load ranges for several rewards:
- The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf: USD $3–$500
- Air Canada: CAD $25–$2,000
- CAD and USD Mastercard options: $20–$2,000 in their respective currencies
Together, these changes gave senders more flexibility in what they offered, how much they sent, and how much choice they left to recipients.
